DC Circuit Breakers
- The Navy type IDF6 and IDFR4 circuit breakers are designed and manufactured by FKI Switchgear in accordance with military specification MIL-C-17587B(SH), 18th April 1983 and amendments to date.
- The IDF6 circuit breaker type ACB 2601 HR & 2603R are rated for a continuous current of 2600 Amps, and the IDFR6 circuit breaker type ACB 5000R is rated for a continuos current of 5000 Amps
The above type circuit breakers are a two pole version of the AC circuit breakers
with the middle two terminal studs removed. The AC current sensors are
replaced by DC Sensors using the Hall Effect Principle giving linear
outputs up to the maximum calibration of the trip devices. The power
supply to drive the DC sensors is derived from external DC source.
An additional lamp is fitted on the protection module to indicate
that the power supply is healthy. For test purposes an additional test
box is required to enable on board checking of the DC relay
calibrations to be carried out.
