Hawker Siddeley Switchgear Ltd scoops Energy Sector deal
Hawker Siddeley Switchgear Ltd has strengthened its position as market leader in the supply of circuit breaker technology to the UK utility sector by securing a contract worth in excess of £1million from Scottish and Southern Energy.
The electricity distributor has ordered a three-year supply of Hawker Siddeley Switchgear Ltd’s acclaimed Horizon outdoor ground mounted circuit breakers – equipment that Scottish and Southern Energy has operated successfully for the past four years.
Explained Steve Dymond, Sales and Marketing Director at Hawker Siddeley Switchgear Ltd : “The company has found our Horizon circuit breakers to be both reliable and extremely well suited to their requirements.
“Utilising our patented, low energy magnetic actuator technology, the Horizon is a market-leading ‘fit and forget’ product which offers minimal maintenance and silicone rubber bushings that are resistant to damage from vandalism or mishandling.”
The contract, which runs until 31 July 2009, will see Hawker Siddeley Switchgear Ltd supply and install the high-quality equipment across power networks in the north of Scotland and central southern England.
Added Mr Dymond: “There is also the option to extend the contract by a further two years, reflecting the ongoing relationship we have with Scottish and Southern Energy. We are delighted to be working in partnership with them as part of their multi-million pound capital spend programme to provide their customers with reliable power supplies.”
Designed for a 15kV or 38kV application, Horizon circuit breakers can be used alongside other products from the Hawker Siddeley Switchgear Ltd range to provide new, cost-effective and compact substations or to update existing substations by replacing old and obsolete equipment.
