Type VMH switchgear is of the flush fronted, metalclad type with air insulated busbars and a horizontally isolated, withdrawable vacuum circuit breaker. Developed after the introduction of the type VMV Vacuum Switchgear. |
This unit offers the alternative horizontally isolated vacuum circuit breakers but in addition, provides options for an enhanced fault rating (31.5kA) and internal arc protection.
The front cover of the circuit breaker forms the front cover of the fixed housing when in 'Service'. A separate instrument and relay chamber with a hinged door is mounted on top of the fixed housing. The fixed housing is segregated into three compartments - the busbar chamber, circuit breaker chamber and a chamber enclosing the cable terminations, various current and voltage transformers when required, and a circuit earth switch.
Front and rear cabling access allows two switchboards to be mounted back to back.
